THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus lecture series will present “Energy Fundamentals with Don Lancaster,” on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Discovery Park Campus. The free slideshow and lecture will feature guest speaker Don Lancaster from Synergetics. The free, family-friendly, presentation, which consists of a pair of lectures, will be held in the Jupiter Room at 6:30 p.m.
Harry Swanson, dean of Discovery Park Campus, says, “Lancaster, a nationally famous electrical engineer and computer expert, will speak on ‘the truth’ about alternative energy systems. The first lecture is on ‘Energy Fundamentals’ while the second is ‘An Introduction to Solar Panels.’ There is a huge amount of inaccurate information circulating on these two topics and these lectures are aimed at focusing on factual and verifiable fundamentals.”
“With the nation’s heavy dependence on foreign oil, much has been discussed and promised about the future of sustainable and renewable energy use. How much of this is real and how much is just political hype?” asks Swanson. “What will be the cost as we attempt to move away from high-pollution systems or those that depend upon expensive fuels? How do we, as individuals, determine what’s right for us? These questions and many more will be answered by Lancaster’s presentation.”
