Thatcher, AZ— Eastern Arizona College is hosting soprano, Joyce Hall Wolf for a free vocal recital on October 15, in the Activities Center ? Lee Little Theater, at 7:30 p.m. Wolf is a frequent performer of recital, opera, and oratorio. She has performed numerous operatic roles in works ranging from those by Monteverdi to Menotti. Collaborations with Kentucky Ballet Theatre have included the soprano solos in George Crumb?sAncient Voices of Children and Villa-Lobos? Bachianas Brasileiras Number 5. She has also performed as a soprano soloist numerous times for Diana Evans? School of Dance in Lexington, Kentucky.
Wolf is Professor of Music in the Eastern Kentucky University School of Music and Honors Program Faculties. As promoter, performer, and researcher of compositions by women, Wolf is a national presenter on the subject of lieder compositions by women composers and has also presented nationally and regionally on the subject of guiding the undergraduate through critical and creative thinking of dynamic art song performance.
For Eastern Kentucky University, Wolf teamed with Dr. Rachel Taylor to write degree programs in vocal and piano pedagogy. Wolf teaches voice, vocal pedagogy, and vocal repertoire. For a decade she was the Director of EKU Opera, building the program from a quartet of singers to a large cast, performing full, three act, performances. Wolf?s former students are active teachers and performers.
She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Kentucky (UK) with a minor in Musicology. She also earned her Master of Music in Applied Voice and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from West Virginia University.
Wolf is the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Kentucky. She and her husband Gene have two children and enjoy kayaking in their very precious free time.
