Step One Get Admitted

Applying to EAC is Free!

Use one of these three simple ways to apply.

  • Online: www.eac.edu/admit
  • By Phone: 928.428.8270 or 800.678.3808, ext. 8270
  • In Person: at the EAC Records Office.

LOOK! If applying in person, be sure to bring proof of citizenship and call ahead to find out which documents fulfill this requirement.

 

Step Two Activate Your Gila Hank and MonsterMail

  • Go to: eac.edu/gilahank
  • You'll need your Monster ID # and Student ID #.
  • Your Monster ID # should be used whenever you are asked to give a username or Monster ID #.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to log in to Gila Hank. You'll be asked to create a new password. This new password will be your password to Gila Hank, MonsterMail, Canvas, and student Wi-Fi access.

It takes up to an hour to activate MonsterMail after your Gila Hank account is live. Find the MonsterMail app in your Gila Hank account or at eac.edu.

Step ThreeApply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

Federal and State Programs

  • Grants: are not paid back
  • Work Study: on-campus jobs

Apply: www.fafsa.ed.gov

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting October 1.

  • EAC's code is 001073.
  • FAFSA applications submitted by December 1 receive priority consideration.

The results of the FAFSA report your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) — the amount you are expected to put toward your cost of attending EAC.

EAC Scholarships

  • Academic: based on academic excellence
  • Athletic and Performing Arts: based on performance, selected by coaches and directors

Log in to your Gila Hank account; click "money" to locate the scholarship application link; click "start" to answer the questions.

  • Transcripts, a personal essay, and two letters of recommendation are required
  • A completed FAFSA is required to be considered for scholarships
  • Applications are due by March 1

 

Waivers

  • Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE): eac.edu/wue
    Students from these states are eligible for discounted tuition: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

    Apply:
  • Print WUE form along with required documentation, and return to Records Office.

  • New Mexico Tuition Waiver: eac.edu/newmexico
    New Mexico residents may be eligible for in-state tuition rates.

    Apply:
    • Log in to your Gila Hank account; click "money" to locate the waivers link; click "start" to answer the questions.
    • For priority consideration you should register for classes as soon as possible prior to the semester you plan on attending.

Step FourArrange Housing

Housing options are limited on-campus and near-campus - especially for the fall semester - so make arrangements as early as possible. On-campus housing space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date you submit a housing application and $150 reservation deposit.

If you are choosing to live on-campus, please submit a Housing Application and $150 deposit by logging into your Gila Hank account and clicking the "Housing & Meals" link at the top of the page. The housing application is accessed by clicking "Housing Options."

 

Step FivePlacement Testing (if needed)

All degree-seeking students must take the placement test prior to enrolling. These assessments allow EAC counselors to guide students in selecting appropriate level courses in which they are most likely to be successful.

Free Placement Testing is offered by appointment Monday-Friday in the Counseling Office. ACT or SAT scores may be used in lieu of placement testing IF minimum scores are met:

ACT
Math: 22
Writing: 18
Reading: 18

SAT
Math: 520
Writing: 530
Reading: 430

To significantly improve your placement test scores, enroll in one of these one-credit, 10-day, power courses designed to quickly develop your math, reading, and writing skills. Sign up for Summer Bridge: CSL122, section #6055 (math); #6026 (reading); or #6082 (writing).

Step SixAcademic Advising and Class Planning

Our expert advisors are standing by to help you gather the information necessary to reach your academic goals. We strongly recommend that you schedule an individual appointment to make full use of the resources offered at the Counseling Office (see contact information in Step 5).

 

Step SevenRegister for Classes

Registration start dates are as follows:

  • March 15 for Fall Semester
  • October 15 for Spring Semester

There are three ways to register for classes.

  • In Person: at the EAC Records Office

 

Step EightFinalize

You're nearly there! To finalize your account, contact the Fiscal Control Office to verify your payment has been received for tuition, fees, room & board, and to obtain a Student ID card. Please note that all full-time students are required to have a Student ID card.

  • Fall tuition is due on the fourth Monday in July. Spring tuition is due on the second Friday in December. If your account isn't finalized by the due date, your classes will be purged the following day.
  • Room & board payments are due the day you check into the dorms.
  • Payment plans are available. Students can enroll in a payment plan through their Gila Hank account.

 

Step NineBuy Text Books

We advise purchasing books before classes begin. Books are available at the EAC Bookstore located in the Activities Center. Start saving early to be prepared for this expense. Generally, books will run between $400 and $600 per semester.

 

Step TenAttend Monster Bridge

Gather valuable information at this new student orientation experience, offered the week before fall semester begins.

  • Gather class information and explore campus activities
  • Learn how to connect and use EAC technology resources
  • Hear about tips on managing your time, money, and social life
  • Attend a career fair to learn about local job opportunities for EAC students
